Leveraging valuable resources
Long before recycling became the popular choice to combat the growing mountains of garbage on our planet and the pollution of our oceans, we dedicated ourselves to recycling plastic waste. We know that resources on our planet are limited, and careful use of raw materials is therefore more than ever the order of the day.
Leading the change
Worldwide plastic production has increased 20-fold to about 335 million tons per year over the past 50 years. A further increase to 1,124 million tons is expected by 2050. Particularly in the area of plastic packaging, where only 14% is recycled, the economy loses USD 80-120 billion per year, because packaging is only used once and for a short period of time. This corresponds to a material loss of 95%.
A reorientation of the plastics industry away from linear economy and towards a circular economy will therefore be unavoidable in the future. Raw materials will be recycled for production after use.
